Marine Head project

The pump on my JABSCO was sticky, so I disassembled it to lube the 'O' ring. On reassembly, I couldn't get the pump to stop leaking. I ended up over torquing one screw and the screw boss broke free!

Rather than repair a part with a poor serviceability reputation, I decided to replace it. The Raritan LBA is sold at this site without the bowl, so I went with that.

The only alteration I made was to the base mounting screw pattern. All the old hoses fit. This project took about 4 hours to complete, which included about 1 hour of cleaning.

Thanks for the pictures. Where is your waste tank located? How are the hoses routed to the tank? Where is your deck plate and vent located? (Pictures would help) my boat only has a porta pottie and an upgrade is in order. Thanks in advance for your info.

The original marine head was installed at the Hunter factory. If you pull up the H260 owner's manual, you should see all of the hose runs.
1. The holding tank is behind the stern bulkhead on the port side, opposite the battery.
2. The waist hose goes under the aft berth to the holding tank.
3. The pump-out plate is on the very stern, port side, next to the swim ladder. It is directly below the stern rail seat. The vent is just forward of that, under the rub rail.

Pictures will have to wait for my next sail, in 1 week.

Thanks Dave. I'll have a look at the manual. I have the H26 so the stern area may be somewhat different, currently my battery is on the port side.

It was a 20 gallon holding tank. You will need to build a shelf on the port side just past the rear berth wall. You will need to remove that wall which is screwed in. Leave it out until all is completed. Most important, ventilate the cabin well as the fumes from the fiberglass will run you out not to mention the safety factor as well. You will have to do a little at a time. On the platform, go ahead and glass the top as well.

Hose runs

Fred,
Here are the photos I promised:
#1 Shows all the hoses going port from the head
#2 The thru-hull for water in, under the sink
#3 The pump-to-bowl water in vent in the wet gear locker
#4 Looking at the aft bulkhead. Waste hose runs under the deck.
#5 The holding tank, behind the aft bulkhead
#6 Next to the head, the waste hose runs down
#7 Looking port, under the deck, near the head
#8 Looking aft, under the deck, the hose goes thru the aft bulkhead
#9 Vent and waste deck plate, directly above the holding tank, on the stern.

Thanks Dave. I have a H26 so slightly different but should work. We are currently on a 18 day cruise and it's a challenge managing the 5 gallon capacity of our MSD porta-pottie between pump- outs!
