I don't know if this will help, but here goes. On Midnight Sun (and I think I am the only original owner) there is a manual pump in the cockpit on the port side. It is NOT the same pump that came on the boat to pump out the holding tank. (bag in my case) The one in the cockpit is aluminum and the one for the holding tank was plastic with a built in "Y" gate. If you haven't replaced the diaphram in the last ten years, it probably won't pump. Mine failded because the screws holding it together corroded apart.
In answer to the question about whether there is room for another hose, there is. Part of the ORC Cat 1 racing requirements, require a second manual bilge pump installed below deck. Mine is on the forward facing galley bulkhead. Bilge pumps never enter your mind untill they don't work. As those of you that read my account of the 2010 Mexico race remember, Both manuals and both elecrtic pumps failed, and we had to bail every four hours for three days coming home. My advice on manual pumps is to try them quarterly, and on electrics, re-do the electrical connections every year, and before any passage. I will say that since I started filling butt connectors with RTV prior to crimping, I have had no problems. Wish that was my idea, but it wasn't. It does work.
