Well, this maiden had her first voyage of 2007 -- finally! It was making me nuts to have my boat back in the drink last week and it being too cold to sail her. I decided today was the day anyway. Temps in the high 40's and light winds. Coldish but doable. That wonderful Yanmar started right up after about 2-sec of cranking. Ran as smooth as a kitten, particularly with the new cutlass bearing. After the engine warmed up I headed out into the bay. Nice to see the old engine could easily cruise at 5.5 kts at 2100 rpms. At one point I pushed it to WOT and was able to develop 3300 rpms so I assume compression is still good. I decided to bend on my small 120 genoa. I have not used this sail in years, although it's in very good condition. With winds around 7-8 kts, the boat was doing 5+ kts, and I was really surprised at that with a small headsail. Nice to be sailing again and hope you all are, too!
