My boat doesnt have a macerator and so far I havn't needed it, because of Marina facilities. I would like to know the what happens if I go to the Channel Islands and I drop a #2 without one. Will it discharge at sea. I have heard it can be installed on either side of the holding tank. That said, Is the through hull discharge before the holding tank. But, if your macerator is downstream from the tank. does the macerator pump out the tank as well as chop it up, and then send it through a through hull on that end. Anything to simlify this to help me understand the poop so to speak on thes would help. I am quite sure I can install it after I understand the mechanics of it

Thanks

So if I get it right, when your at sea, you flip on the macerator and out it goes, and when at the pump station It goes out in the same state it went in, Correct. I have a discharge in front of the tank so I think your system is best for me also.
Thanks I liked the diagrams. So do you flip on the macerator at will and shut it off when the tank is empty?
Your help is appreciated

I'm glad somebody finally asked, my macerator wiring was burned up when I bought the boat and I'm glad marina has facilities. I've been rather hesitant about the solids disposal situation, and thus far have banned the activity from my boat so as to avoid the problem

Its easy to tell that to a friend, but not so much to my other half. What do you think would happen to just send it down. Mine wouldn't pass through the holding tank!

Tanks for your interest

Actually, my ingenius wife carries giant ziploc bags to line the bowl with, in an emergency. Back to my other question, why is the tank vent in the anchor locker at the bottom, under all the rope, seems a bad plan and doesn't vent correctly, never has.

Macerator saga Continues

If my picture attaches you will see that the affluent goes from the head into the "Y"valve and then right out the side of the boat. Turn the "y" and it will go into tank on top. there is a pumpoutlet on the bottom. and a vent on the side. Where is the best place for the macerator. I like the uidea of flushing directly out without going into the tank at all. Will I lose this luxury if I put a macerator in. My other ? is if I put some normal volume in the head, as is, will it discharge without a macerator. Any thoughts are appreciated.
Thanks Buzz:eek:
