A woman I have been talking to at Engine Power Source (my local Kubota dealer referred me) just sent me an email saying that she had spoken to her marine specialist in Florida and that they had located a pan for me, machined to fit the dipstick. The whole bill, including gasket and plug will be under $200 and I should have the items in a little over a week. I am really impressed with her initiative and service. I will let you know when the parts arrive and if they do the trick. Now to start cleaning up the mess in the bilge.
Wow, you are very fortunate!

It's you. I have never had such an issue with this forum, nor have heard of anyone experiencing anything like you are. FWIW, I use both a Mac and a linux machine, both using Chrome, to access this site.
@Tartan: Thanks, I will email support and see what's going on. I use Chrome and MS Edge on my laptop and Chrome and Safari on my phone/pad and all all the same, so maybe it's some oddity at SBO. Yesterday it took me HOURS and multiple tries to link back into this thread/posts and get to a PM. STRANGE?

As a final report on this situation, Engine Power Source did a little research and were able to locate the Kubota parts I needed. On the pan, the pick-up for the drain to which I can connect my pump is in exactly the same place as in the original. The hole and bolt holes for the dipstick are also in the right place. I also was able to purchase the correct gasket, and a few new pan bolts (these were expensive) to complete the job. I bolted everything up, replaced a motor mount that had gone bad, dropped the engine back in, changed all the filters, antifreeze and oil and got it aligned for about the same price I would have paid Universal for their replacement pan. I am sure glad I participate in this forum.
