What is the difference between the M25 and the M25XP? What is the best way to tell which type is in my 1987 C30. Thank you.

The differences are
the M25 is 21 hp and the XP is 23 HP. The XP came with a larger 3 inch heat exchanger, altho a lot of us with M25s have installed new larger HXs. They look alike, so other than the HX you can't tell them apart, except for the label right on the top of the engine, aft of the thermostat. One other thing: the M25 have cast alternator brackets, while the XPs have a new bracket. Details are in the link. PC, with your year boat, it IS hard to tell, because that's about the time Catalina started changing over. If you have an M25 with the old bracket, replace it now, see the link. Stu
