I am sorry for asking a question that may have been asked before but I am about to change both the oil and Trans. oil on my Univ M18 for the first time and was trying to determine the best course of action; using the oil drain or a pump that draws out of the dip stick. I have an 85 Catalina 27, so the access space is limited. Advise is welcome.. Recomendation on pumps, I am thinking about the PAR Handy Boy if anyone cares to comment..

your m-18 engine should have a oild drain tube coming out of the oil pan. Obtain a 1/4 in dia nipple to go into the the female fitting on the oil drain tube. The you can take your pick. Choose the type of pump. I think the easiest is the Basic designs (Strerns) pump you hook up to your battery and in 2 minutes your finished.

Removing transmission dipstick

In case you have trouble removing the transmission dipstick nut I got a six-inch long extender to my ratchet and that gave me the torque needed to remove that nut. Prior to that I had tried about everything else without success (but with plenty of frustration!). Good luck
