I know this has been covered, but can't find it in archives. Where can I get the upgrade for the alternator bracket on my 1987 M25 Universal? Thanks ahead of time!
I don't know why I bother - after reading this I searched and found the note I posted on this topic in the archives, but the link I put in for the extensive dicussion on the C-34 national Association site is gone. So, what good are the archives? So, once again, see link:
Just wanted to thank you all for this thread. Our mechanic commissioned the M25 engine on our 1985 Catalina 30 Tall Rig and mentioned that the bracket looked rough but would probably last the season. I was inclined to agree. After reading this article and the links to the Catalina 34 experiences I will be ordering the new bracket in the morning and installing before we take our first sail. You probably saved us from a bad experience. Thanks Again..
I've got the mod kit and will be changing out the old bracket today. The one part I am not sure of is the replacement of the studs at the water tank. Do I actually have to remove the water tank or can I change the studs one at a time. Has anyone had problems removing the studs? Thanks
I changed them one at a time, though I think you can safely change them all at once. I was fortunate in that they all came right out. I grabbed the threaded portion with a vise grip. I put anti-sieze on the threads of the new ones.jv
My 30 is getting a weld job and a new bracket now. My gear cover cracked last weekend. Now I know all about it. My fuel fliter bracket broke as well. One of the bolts fell out. All in all not a good week.
