Looking for "upper cover" for Yanmar 1 cyl

Hi,
I'm looking for an "upper cover" for a Yanmar 1 cyl - YSM8 - although I think the YSM12 might be the same. It's the cover that the zinc & thermostat screw in to. It's the part labeled "33" (no, not Rolling Rock) in the attached diagram. If anyone has one, knows where to look for one, or has the other half of the parts manual and knows the part #, please let me know.

I have the parts manual and repair manual somewhere, but what is wrong with yours?
It is made of cast iron what COULD you do to it?
I think that part can be made if you can't find one. It is a flat piece of iron with some holes and threads in it.

It's now two pieces instead of one. I was investigating a small crack that had been leaking water, and when I took it off, I realized it was completely cracked in half. Since it's all rusty along the crack, I think it's been cracked for a while.

I was thinking that I might have to make one. Unfortunately, the inside isn't flat, and I'm not sure how I'd "carve" it out to make sure the water still flows through.

I don't think that you need that part to be curvy. You can probably weld it back together. It's not a real high stress piece. I just cracked the exaust manafold in the threads and broke off a corner that a bolt hole is on. I grind a big bevel but leave just enough to line it up, clamp it to the table flat and fill it in.
That piece you are talking about is flat along the bottom if it is the same as my YSM12. If you don't have any one that can weld it for you, send it to me I will. PM me if you want to do it.

Thanks for the offer - I'll look for someone around here first, though. You're right about the stress - if the gasket and one bolt could hold it in place for at least a year, it shouldn't take much to make it watertight again.

I found a local weld shop and they welded it back together for me. I just had to do a little sanding on it to get a flat surface. I used something by Permatex to make the seal. So far, so good!

According to the YSM Parts book, the item ref. number/part number on page 5 is:
Ref No. 1-33 Upper cover 158W-19h Part No. 104271-01850
and it fits both the 8 & the 12. Have you called the various Yanmar distributors?
I've got one, but it's firmly bolted to my running ysm12 ;)!

I'm going to repower soon, so the engine will be for sale next month.
