We (the Admiral and I) are leaving for a summer cruise on our 81 H33. We plan on covering New Jersey to Main (or farther north if time allows) One of the previous owners cut the oven section off the stove and made it a “cook-top”. It has worked fine for the last eight years doing weekend and vacation cruising. However, it would be nice to have an oven while living aboard for 5 months. If you swapped out your old pressurized alcohol stove for propane and are willing to part with the old one, I’m interested. Thanks, Ernie S/V Cindy Lou

As former Secretary of the Maine Hunter Sailing Association (still on the Exec Committee), I think I should let you know about our rendezvous/flotilla starting on July 26 near Rockland, ME and continuing for 2 weeks. Find out more at the attached link. I have sailed there 3 times before (including the full summer of 2002) and, I must say, it's great! That is how I became associated with the assoc. I am permanently relocating my boat there in June of '08. I plan on taking 4 days to get there, stopping in the evening (220 nm). I went up in 2002 and this will be my first trip back with my boat. BTW, plan on taking the Cape Cod Canal to go there. But go with the tide. You CANNOT make it against the tide in a sailboat!

Earnie: My PO got rid of the stove...but, I think the owners/operating manual (78 33' Hunter)is still in the stack of books he gave me. Let me know if you want it and I'll check. Be glad to send it to you...obviously free...

Kenyon Stove!

Hi- I may have just what you need, not sure. I replaced my original (functional) Kenyon stove last year, from my cherubini-designed H37C. Might it also work for your 33?? I'm happy to send photos, take measurement/dimensions, etc. -gregg S/V "Sabbatical", Boston 1981 H37-Cutter

Thats Great!

Gregg, That would be great. I went to the boat yesterday and checked what I have. It's a Kenyon model 550 two burner but it looks like the 555 three burner will also fit. Stovetop dim's are 19.75" x 13.25" and would be about 23" high. Opening width is 22" If yours looks like a fit, send me details/photos at hobiesec@juno.com Steve, I found the manual on the boat but I really do appreciate the offer. Paul, That sounds like a great idea. If we are close to the area(and we plan to be)we'll be there. Thanks for the link, we will keep an eye on it for details. Ernie

Kenyon Stove

I also have an original Kenyon from my 1979 H37C. It is like new, that dark bronze color. It is a pressurized design and I think called for kerosene? I have never used it but all the parts are there including the manual. It has the railing around the burners with a cutting board insert. I never had a need for an oven so a dorm fridge sits in the space with a two-burner Origo(non-pressurized) on top.
