I am looking for a late 1970's Catalina 30 to purchase. Would prefer 1977-79 and don't care if it has a gas engine or not. The boat should be in New England. It is such a chore to try to buy a boat from some brokers. They don't seem to want to even try if you aren't buying a $50,000 boat. Half of them don't work weekends and half of the boats they have listed have already been sold. I can't believe that the people who have boats for sale know how little some of these guys work to try to sell their boats. Maybe it is time for some serious licensing requirements for brokers, like real estate brokers.

Keep an eye out here

There were two C30s listed in the NE but they were much newer. There are tons of places on the web to look. Check out local marina bulletin boards. Search your local papers religiously. Maybe even post a wanted ad at the marina. Check out some older C30s at your marinas that might look a little neglected & try to track down the owners. I've heard that's worked on more than one occasion. Good luck! LaDonna

Buy mine?

I may be looking to sell my '79 c-30. I've invested over 9K this year so it won't be a bargain boat. Don 401-849-0966

1977 C-30

With a baby on the way, we have seriously discussed selling our BIG baby. It's a 1977 C-30 Standard Rig with tiller and gas engine. We pulled it last fall and have added a water heater, pressurized water, bowsprit with anchor roller, new bottom paint, etc. etc. When we bought it last year, it had already been customized with many upgrades. We also just added a new Doyle mainsail. Our other drawback is that we need a boat with a walk-through transom to get our Labradors back on board. They've gotten too big to manhandle aboard! E-mail me at mikec44@ix.netcom.com for more info.
