How's the S2 hunt going? IMHO, an S2 should make a great coastal sailer, but I'd want something a bit more sea kindly for ocean-going. The boats are in the same class as Oday, Pearson and Catalina 30's, but I think the standing rigging is more oversized and rugged. Speaking of which, check for moisture around the chainplates. The decks are balsa cored and if the chain plates leak the core will get saturated. Also, be prepared to do some portlight re-sealing. They are just bonded to the openings and when the sealant fails people tend to use silicone to reseal, which doesn't adhere well to the lexan.
