1. I assume the alternator output and regulator sensor go to the house

2. Any guesses as to why the previous owner would have the combiner across the common and #1 on the switch? Nothing on #2. Am I missing something or was this just a misguided DIY?

1. Please don't assume anything. Trcae the wires and draw a wiring diagram.

2. Guesses>>: Another misguided/lame/uninformed/sloppy/lazy/didn't RTFM PO.

Maybe the combiner is faulty and the previous owner has just permanently paralleled the batteries at the switch so they're always charged together?

From what you describe , it sounds exactly like the way Yandina told me to wire my system.
I suggest you call Yandina for the excellent support they offer and get the scoop direct from someone who has been building and servicing these for over 20 years.

I see epic level dumb almost every day.....

The Yandina should be wired acroos each banks + posts or to the #1 & #2 posts on the switch.

Wiring between "C" & #1 means that when in the #1 position #2 never gets charged... These are bi-directional sensing VSR's and thus should go straight to the + terminals of each bank....

They also carry an unconditional lifetime warranty..... The failure rate on these is almost non-existent. Between just Blue Sea and Yandina there are well over 150,000 ACR's/Combiners out there. They are one of the most reliable electrical devices on board boats....

I'm not sure but I think Yandina gave me instructions to wire my batt isolator as described here. It was a variation from the stock wiring diagram included with the unit.
Perhaps a call to Yandina is in order? Mine has been fine for several years now.
