A couple years back i purchased a Shark 24 that needed a bunch of interior work(completely stripped) but was in excellent sailing condition. But for the past little while i've noticed the cockpit sagging a little bit when stepped on...finally decided to squeeze way back to get a better look at the damage.

It's all along the STBD side of the cockpit deck, port appears to be fine. This is the worse of it, the rest is about 1/4 of that all the way to the edge of the cockpit deck. I had some leftover glass and resin from a previous job so i cleaned it off and added a couple layers to it, hoping to add some more strength. It doesn't sag as much after the quick fix. Should i continue to add a more layers or am i screwed and have to replace the whole deck.

Without being there to see but from your picture I see the core is rotten and the glass is the only support there. I see from current hole rotten core stuff. It must be getting water in it somewhere. If this is the case drill holes and fill would be my guess. If I am wrong and its not cored but more glass in and a support system in place to fix the spongy flexing. It would help to have more photo's though. Best Regards, Capt. Rob

Stargazer seems to have the right approach as best we can tell. Maybe make up 2 plywood panels to fit on each side and run fore/aft from stringer to stringer. Resin coat plywood panels and mount with small cross stringers beneath plywood screwed to large stringers. Hope this helps, Chief
