We re-did our companionway hatch boards out of 1/2 inch polycarbonate years
ago and have been very pleased with the results. We also replaced the teak
sliders that they fit in with stainless steel flat stock that is through bolted
to the aft cabin bulkhead. A couple of grab rails are installed on each side. It
has been an essentially bulletproof setup. (Polycarbonate is frequently used for
bulletproof windows.) Walt
