I have an '86 C30 with opening portlights in the head and on the starboard bulkhead over the hanging locker. The plastic is crazed with cracks and needs replacement. Does anyone know what size the portlights are on this model C30 or how to measure for replacement without actually removing the portlight and measuring the openings? Also, what replacement/brand would you recommend that offers BEST VALUE (i.e. lowest price/best quality). I don't want to spend $200-$300 each on these...

I have a 1982 C30 with the fix ports. The cut opening size for them are 6.25"x15.5". I just ordered the Bomar #2414 portlights to replace them. You can get them at a discount store for about $110.

Adding new Portlights

I have a 1980 C30 without portlights. Would the lewmar ports sold at West Marine work? Also are there any directions about that tell how to install or would it be easier to have the boat yard install? Thanks, 1980 C30 #1640

Installation

Jim, you shouldn't need the yard to do this. It's pretty straightforward unless you have some bizarre unforeseen problem. You should search the archives on this site for some really good detailed information on this project. You can also get a good book like Good Old Boat & follow the instructions there. LaDonna

portlight replacement

I also have an '86 C30. I removed the hinged section of one of the ports, disassembled it, and removed the acrylic panel which was craked and crazed. I took it to a local plastics company and had them cut 2 pieces to match using 1/4" acrylic polymer(gray). It was just a matter of replacing the plastic. But, you must be careful when removing the plastic not to damage the rubber seal. Total cost: $30.
