Lewar opening port light

I just installed a new gasket in my Lewmar port light. Defender Industries ordered it for me directly from Lewmar. Unfortunately, I cannot get the lens to latch closed. The gasket seems too thick. Lewmar assures me it is the correct part. Has anyone experienced this problem and can offer a fix? I have a 2001, Cat310, hull number 101. ShareThis

I have had the same problem with my Catalina 270. Installed new gaskets(Lewmar) last fall, and still can't get them to seat like the old ones. Water still coming in around the latches. Have even installed the Portvisors, and last night during a storm, it was a steady drip.

Pretty discouraging. At least you were able to close the latch. Did you silicone in the gaskets?

The instructions said nothing about silicone for the gaskets. Supposedly with the odd shape point, that if there were installed correctly, there was no need for any other sealant. I guess that will be my next step. They are a bear to install, so maybe I can add a small bead across the top of the gasket.
