Hello all-
We have developed a leak in our forward hatch over the v-berth. Today, with the help of a hose, we discovered that there is a sliver of daylight at the aft/starboard corner. I have cleaned all around. The gasket seems to just not want to connect there. So, these questions for the more knowledgeable…

1- Can anyone tell me the manufacturer and model/size of this hatch? There are no identifying markers.
2- Can I get a replacement gasket if I can identify the make/model? If so, is it easy to replace?
3- Can this gasket be brought back to life with some lubrication like vaseline or mineral oil?

BTW our boat is an ‘87 TRBS #4830.
Any other thoughts or recommendations?

Thanks!

Your hatch is a Bomar unless it's a knock off :

Check under the flange for the model number :

Hopefully, the reason the gasket is not contacting is the latch is not pulling the flange down tightly enough causing the gasket to leak. If the gasket is brittle, you can find the part number on the Bomar Pompanette site.

You adjust the tightness of the two latches by adding or subtracting plastic washer as shown :

You can preserve gaskets with this :

My port and hatch gaskets are 25 years old and could pass for new.
