I'm still trying to find a leak in the cabin , mostly on starboard side . I think I have ruled out the caulking on the windows and fittings on the cabin top.Is there a possibility of rain water running down the inside of the mast and entering where the wires pass through the cabin and follow the wire run to this area on the starboard side. Any thoughts ??? thanks in advance rob

The leak could be anywhere,

It could be running down the core behind the liner. You should re-caulk everything, including the mast step.

Not possible but probable

That is what gives you that soft deck just in front of the mast. The PO of my C-30 filled that mast step with what looks like 5200. He made a big smooth mound that sealed everything for the rest of time. That attention to detail is why I bought the boat. I wish that I would have taken a picture before the mast went up because it is such of a good idea.

Hope it's NOT 5200 around your mast step

because it'll be real FUN to unstep. An idea from a fellow C34 member: take the mast boot off, install a ring of properly sized large diameter 3 strand (or your choice) line between the mast and the deck, coat liberally with sealant, reinstall mast boot and UV cover (and/or sunbrella cover). Works for him, I haven't gotten around to doing it yet.

Tahnks for the info.

Thank you for the input . I'm going to look a little closer at the area this weekend. May have the mast stepped this winter and fill in the area as needed. Thanks again Rob
