Hello Bill My advise would be not to use the topping lift. While this design is good for lowering sails, it makes raising them a hassle. The problem being that the battens will catch in the lazy jacks. I would suggest you use a pair of blocks mounted at the crossarm either side of the mast. Lead your main lines from the base of the mast, up to these blocks and down to the boom. Rig your secondary lines from this as needed. The beauty of this method is when raising the sail, you can slack the main line at the mast and pull the whole affair forward and out of the way of the sail. You only need a small cleat at base of mast to fasten it to. Good luck red
