cockpit speaker ideas
JeffI to had problems with cutting holes in my boat where sea water might frequent. My solution although maybe a bit different works very well. I ran the speaker wire on my 336 through both aft compartments in the cockpit. I use the starboard side for my two starter batteries and the port has my diesel heater. I got the bose indoor outdoor speakers and attached two of those metal "broom handle" holders to the bottom of each. Hooked the speaker wire from the compartments to each. When I want to put "buffet" on with a boat drink, I just attach them to the stainless rails just forward of the catbird seats... they fit there perfectly and aim toward the cockpit. I hooked a 8" bungee to the top and give one wrap around the rail when the wind in "knockdown alley" is up. Keeps them upright. Even painted them to match the hull color. When back in the slip, I just unattach from the rails and store out of the weather. Also put them on the fader so I can set them for conversation mode on deck but still get some thump out of the ten inch subwoofer and two 5 1/2 inch sonys below. Works pretty good although good ol Fred may tell me that wasnt a very "salty" solution! Cheers Fred, your a wealth.Oh and havent noticed my ST4000 making any unannounced course changes from interference.RickWhiskey Chaser
