Picture of the flooring and bolt says it all.
Merg, what a sad sight. Our galley flooring is starting to buckle slightly and I fear my elusive leak is taking its toll likewise. How thick is the orig flooring and what does the substructure look like immediately below the flooring? Is it set into an indentation in the mold that would trap water or does it adhere to the top of the ballast tank or does water in the bilge somehow flow under there? I recently installed a sunbrella poptop hatch and companionway slat cover which seems to have cured the galley floor puddles but I'm still getting small amounts of water in the bilge coming from somewhere. On a very nasty day in Tampa bay last week when the seas were steep and close, while motoring into a 25+kt headwind I took a large breaking wave completely over the bow which then washed across the cabin roof and flooded the cockpit, washing out the stern. It flooded the trough around the poptop and when we pitched forward on the very next wave it overflowed forward inside, dumping it's contents over the salon table. If the trough fills from a heavy rain or wave and can't empty rearward, it'll leak volumes into the cabin for sure. The slats leak pretty well too, especially if rain is driving against them. My new cover would have prevented the mess but it was stowed below and I spent an hour mopping up 3gal of saltwater on everything.Nelson, Thanks for the pics and insight. This is a must do project for me as I've run out of other possibilities for my reoccurring bilge water issue. Was there any damage to the bracket thread or was the bolt and caulking the only failure. One bolt seems inadequate to hold such a critical component in place especially with the CB wallowing around on a single attachment point. Estimated CB bolt project time if all goes well? It seems I could do this on the trailer without raising the boat and dropping the CB.Thanks for any input, Michael
