kiwi prop - shaft rotates in neutral

Installed a Kiwi prop this Spring. Works ok except that the shaft rotates in neutral when I shut the engine off. I have to put it in reverse to stop the rotation. This makes me think that the blades are not totally feathered? Any one else have this experience? Thanks.

Not A Problem IMHO

I have a geared folding prop. It will continue to rotate unless I put it in reverse. It then folds and I can put it in neutral and it will not rotate. RD

I tried that too ....

but when I shift back to neutral from reverse it starts to rotate again. Thanks Rick.

How fast does it rotate??

How fast does it rotate? I mean, the obviously isnt much friction in the system, so a little tiny bit of pressure one way or the other, even a little bit of sideslip inthe water, is going to cause some rotation. The only way to *stop* it is to actually put some resistance on the shaft, which is unnecessary. maybe try grabbing the shaft with a leater glove and see how hard it is to stop?

It doesn't rotate very fast

....but if the blades would be constantly moving to feather I would think there would be no rotation?

What Does the Dealer Say?

...or the manufacturer? They were quick to repond when I discussed buying one. I passed on it based on the horsepower limit; I was queezy being at the upper end. Rick D.

Installed this spring, Rotates slowly in neutral. Kiwi said that might happen. I too wonder if it is not feathering properly but do not worry too much about it. Sail in reverse. Love the prop. Replaced a two blade. Better thrust forward, way better reverse, lots easier docking. Less drag sailing? I think so.
