"Key" for fuel cap

I don't know what happened to my post about the key and the thru-hull caps, but for others and future reference.... The water/fuel/waste caps are all the same thread and size. So, you could get a new cap and not need the smaller wrench- "one wrench fits all". Maybe even get a cap in case one falls overboard. I noticed the screw that holds the chains on the caps can come off and fall into the tanks. I had previously taken the chain off the water cap, but will also do the fuel one.

That's a very good idea, Ron. And also because many skippers "depend" on that chain and when it lets loose the cap goes swimming. I take all the chains off all my caps when brand new and when I take the caps off, I put them somewhere safe.

Question:
The water/fuel/waste caps are all the same thread and size.
Is that for Beneteaus? Not true for our Catalinas, since most of our earlier models were made with the plastic caps which have different threads than the "standard" ss ones. If you switch caps, they won't fit and a new entire fitting is required. Just want to clarify for other skippers.

FYI, too, is that Catalina Direct now sells ss replacements for those plastic caps.
