Crazy Dave will tell that you don't need to worry about the ballast freezing on SML. He used it as an example when I asked if I needed to be concerned about freezing on Lake Murray.I was also on my boat Tuesday... but only to plug in a space heater so the ballast tank stays LIQUID.
Thanks Dave:When the sun is out, it heats up inside Rgranger's 26 and will keep the water ballast warm enough not to freeze up during the night. Rob, the worst thing to do is leave a space heater on the Hunter 26 going without anyone on board. Suggest that you pick a very cold morning and go look thru the vent and you will see what I am talking about. Never was a problem at Smith Mt. Lake. If you go north of the VA line may be issues. Had many of those boats stay in the lake during the winter without any issue.
