Think I can just take advantage of my loose footedness and just tie the end of the reefing line around the boom?

That's actually the way Kenyon originally showed it should be done and the way it was done on my boat. It can be done that way on a foot with slides if you are careful which which slides you put the bight through.

I added the eyestrap because it just seemed so crude to tie around the boom and it's a bit neater with just a stopper knot.

Don't worry about all the holes. The won't weaken the boom significantly.

Thanks Roger. That's good to know, though the bees do love to crawl through them to populate my black boom though so I think I will block them up with some epoxy. I did find a way to reuse a few holes for my topping lift project though.
