If you have the specifications drawing under your hand, I would do a rule of third to get that dimension. Meaning if your 30 foot boat is 6 inches on the drawing, and your keel is 1in, then the depth of your boat is 5 foot...
There were two keels, 4' and 5' 3". You might need to know which. I say 'might' because a hauler like I used could handle either so long as there is nothing higher on the boat than the cabin trunk. This was an actual boat hauling trailer where the keel was less than 12" from the road. This gives plenty of clearance.
The "smile" is most often at the forward edge of the hull to keel joining. On my boat you can follow that back and see the joint clearly. You can also tap on the two parts to hear a distinct difference between the glass and the lead.
