CDI is about the only small furler I know of that had it own internal halyard thus leaving the standard jib halyard left for raising and lowering the mast. All others used the jib halyard and if trailering a lot, CDI was the way to go for that reason as you did not have to take the sail on and off every time you raised and lowered the mast.
Larry, it would be helpful if you could tell us the furler mfg. The jib is hoisted by a halyard either the standard or a furler with it's own internal Halyard. if you find it is a CDI furler, it probably is the #2 furler and go under CDI and look at their manual which I bet you do not have.
