Rope vs Sheet, well technically, the sheet is made of "rope", so I knew what he meant! Traditionally once a piece of rope is cut to length and put to use on a boat, it is called "line", but enough nit-picking. Oh, and there are 2 "ropes" on some boats, the bolt-rope of a sail edge, and a Bell-Rope.
Certainly not ideal, but depending on many factors, the jibsheet rubbing on the coaming edge may not be "bad", but some sort of rub strip, or even better a roller guide type fitting might prevent damage to the fiberglass. If I did not see any damage ocuring over time, I wouldn't worry, if i did..... I might take action.
