Hey folks, after 6 weeks fixing, repairing and scrubbing off moss, slime and mud I got the mast up, rigging relatively tight and went sailing for the first time in 20 years! The handling was a bit cumbersome at times and I believe it's due to the way I ran the lines for the Jib and Main Sheet. Does any one have any close up pictures for way they ran the ropes for the Jib (I'm think I'm using the genoa 'cause it's almost the size of the main sail) and the main sheet?
I also think I'm missing pulley's on the boom. I hooked the main sheet to a 'clamp' on the mast, ran it to a double pulley on at the end of the boom, to the starboard pulley, back to the boom and to the port pulley. But it seems to sag and catch on the cabin hatch if I let it get too loose.
As for the Jib...do you run the lines outside of the shrouds/life lines to the winches on the gunwales? It's the only way that looks logical to me. I used oneof the smaller jibs (one's real small) and ran it inside the shrouds to cleats on the cabin. Any pics would be great! You can either post or email them to me at jay_sauls@yahoo.com.
