I need to replace the jib halyard on my 79 standard rig cat 30. Does anyone know the length and thickness of the cable/rope? Also any ideas on a place to get a good deal on one?
I don't have my book handy, but I just ordered new line for the halyards on my C-30 tall rig. If memory serves, your standard rig is about 3 feet shorted than the tall rig. My jib halyard is 116 feet. JSI has a good sale going on at this time, with STA-SET X (3/8) at about $0.52 per foot. Good luck. I'm going to try to install mine tomorrow.John Finch, s/v DOXOLOGY
I have an '87 C-30 standard rig and my book says 110 ft. Also, by today's standards with racing boats using all rope halyards there is no need to use cable halyard anymore. The only place I use cable is as a small leader on the tack where it connects to my furler.
Catalina rigging specs calls for 1/8 inch 7x19 43 feet 1 inch length for s/s cable rope length to be determined by where your halyards terminate, mast, cockpit? my c-30 comes back to the cockpit and my rope length is 54 feet.
