"I can manually wrap the jib around the forestay which winds the furling line so I can unfurl the jib. This is obviously no solution."If I'm reading this right, the issue is not a "jam." Rather, the furling line has somehow got reversed (probably when the sail was put on) - there should be no more than a wrap or two of line around the drum when the jib is fully furled. When you un-furl the sail, you use one of the sheets, not the furling line. That way, the furling line is spooled onto the drum as the sail is paid out. There should be no line on the drum when it's fully furled. When the sail is all the way out, the drum should be fully spooled, or "loaded" with furling line - pulling that (furling) line out is what wraps up the jib.Solution is simply to fully furl the sail and then "un-spool" the line, manually, without letting the sail out. Leave a wrap or two or three on the drum, no more.Apologies if I'm not understanding the problem.
