It's been a long time ago, but I thought someone made the geared housing part that you'd use a cordless drill to drive it?

Practical Sailor tested the Warning Tailgater and said that it is not as strong as a similar size AC, but that it is a good alternative to some of the battery-powered blenders. They made smoothies and margaritas in it. They said it works better if you put the liquid in 1st and then add the ice.

I have been looking at the GSI Outdoors Vortex Blender at Amazon for $100. Not sure about it yet.

There used to be a product called The Boat Blender that worked with a drill. Google "drill blenders" or "boat blender", seems there is at least one version still out there.

We had a 12v battery blender - I don't remember the name. It was fine. Yes it didn't make a chunk free Margarita but it was fine. The batteries were rechargeable and lasted a decent amount of time.

The one I'm looking at is the Waring and it runs off from the house batteries.

caguy, I have that blender on my boat. It works okay, not as powerful as an AC blender, but does the job on a hot day.

A bottle of Jack and a glass is all I need. My wife insists on single malt and a glass.

Glass? Just clutch the bottle by the neck. And you should have left the cap where you bought it..

A British sea captain once asked that ice be

be conserved as the ice machine that was on board was not working very well. "Because", he went on to say, "if there is one thing that I have learned in all my years at sea it is that there is nothing more dangerous than an American without ice in his drink". It was meant to be a joke of course but it was also a bit of a dig. I must confess though, I do have trouble with warm beer. Thankfully, even the Brits now mostly prefer chilled beer.

How feasible would it be to rig a separate system

with it's own inverter and battery or batteries just for various AC applications? You mentioned wanting another outlet.

I've burned out a couple of inverters already. I need another cigarette lighter 12 v plug. The one I have is in an inconvenient place and has only 16 gauge wiring going to it. I only use if for charging my cell phone. If I install another plug it will be inside the companionway bulk head. There it will be closer to the stereo where I can also use it to charge my phone while I play Pandora. It will also be convenient to the cock pit. I will run a heavier wire to it for the blender.
