Daddy and daughter (4) going to get the boat out and wash the bottom off and get ready for winter.
Then it got kind of crazy.
The wind was only about 10 knots with little gusts from the North East. I had set my trailer beside the dock so I could just motor onto it and hop off.
Well the wind blew my boat too far to the South West so I backed up and went at it again from closer to the North. Same thing. I didn't compensate enough for the wind... Backed up again. All hell breaks loose. The twist grip on the tiller handle of the out board self destructed as I was advancing the throttle. I see black bits of plastic fall into the water as the motor decides to jump out of the water because it has too much throttle (3/4) and is not locked down to the transom... So I now can't control the speed of the engine and don't want to try to put it in N because that usually doesn't happen. It seems to always go into Forward coming from Reverse... And its jumping like crazy.
So I held the motor down as well as I could and backed further toward the North and hoped for the best. The silly kill button seems to have quit working all of a sudden... so I choked it to kill the motor.
How lucky is this! We drifted past the end of one dock and ended up right ware I wanted to be in the first place. Just kind of nose first apposed to along side. I hoped off the bow and directed the boat right onto the trailer like nothing had happened.
Squeaky didn't even know we were in any jeopardy of not getting to the right dock or anything. She was singing something to herself.. Kind of.. You know how they are at that age. Until I had the boat between the goal posts of the trailer. Then she wanted to help/do something. So I took the line I had and let her hold on to it tightly while I attached the bow strap.
I had planed to rebuild the carb and the impeller this winter but seem to have some more work now.
Here is a picture of the handle and one of the bottom with part power washed off and part not. The large white-ish area is ware the bunk of the trailer sat. (I didn't put anti fouling there on purpose. To see if the icky stuff actually didn't come off.)
Last one is dads little helper. Squeaky. (Today is her last Chemo treatment! After 2 years 3 mo. Hooray! She is doing Great!)
