Every Spring, along with getting out the PAPER charts and GPS we always check and orally inflate our PFDS, for 24 hrs to make sure they are great for a safe year!
I was in a race at night and a guy went off a boat (not ours) with NO PFD in cold water and he drowned. that's the short version but we always wear them!
