Looks more and more like I am sitting dead center in the bulls eye. Boat is as secure as I can make it. All of us in the canal worked most of the day. Everyone helping every one else. Looks like we are all good to go. Everyone who is going to be effected by this thing, good luck and be safe.

I've been watching this all day. My boat is in the same location as this gauge. Lost power about 2-3 pm and really getting some of the heaviest weather now. Has been windy all day and that may have subsided some. The winds are just turning from E to S. Waiting for a lull in the rain to bring the dogs out one last time before morning. I hope Kloudie and Nice and Easy are doing well in this.

Some folks canoed into the marina and said the boats looked fine except for two that had shredded headsails from undone roller furlers.. Water is still chest deep on the docks but is going down.. No power, of course. There is some major flooding, more locally than Katrina .. slow moving storm dumping a lot of water.. We had a lot less wind, Thank Goodness

Sounds like good news Kloudie. I hope it holds true for everyone. Beware of boats getting hung up on falling water levels.

I hope you guys came out okay. I hate hurricane season. All you can do is sit, wait, and pray. It is frustrating to see something like that bearing down on your baby.

Is it my imagination or what, seems like every time someone farts in the Gulf coast areas the media is freekin juminp all over, tellin people to evacuate, Shi*head Wolf Blitzer was tryin his best last week to freak everyone out about Issac, when he interviewed the govenor of Florida who calmly told him several times, this is and has been a part of living in florida and the people know how to handle themselves. They kept pressing him about evacuation, for a story, yet he stood his ground and basically told him, they would make the call if necessary. Gas is already up 35Cents, did Katrina freak these people so bad they just call every one. I don't doubt the ability of these people, I do think however they are afraid to let one slip by so we have the "cry wolf" shit happening. If this keeps up they are gonna need more than 26 letters to name these things. just my 2 cents ....Red

Isaac Flood

Drove out to Mandeville today.. Was happy to find the boat in fine shape ..Lots of high water but it looks like no significant damage.. I talked to T-Frere and was happy to know that his fine looking Morgan had ridden well too. Water is about 4.5 feet above normal in those shots .. about 2 feet lower than the max on Thursday morning.. The dock is under about 10 inches of water..

I was able to get out to mine yesterday morning. I was expecting the worst, but saw my boat floating level as I drove up. The Harbor Master was there along with a couple of guys who said they had gone out on the submerged docks and adjusted my dock lines, along with several others' as the water rose and receded. It may have a little water inside or some scratches from the dock, but overall, it seemed to have made it through. I added a few pic's that I took from my phone that shows the mess. The water level is still about 4 feet above normal in the pictures and the second pic is an area that was not rebuilt after Katrina yet and had no boats moored in that area.

Dead swamp grass, fish, and other "debris" have been deposited along the edge everywhere in there and it's starting to smell. I had a short window to put it on the trailer and bring it home and I should've taken that. I expected high water, just not 8+ feet. Glad I didn't lose it.

I dont know the answer, but seeing more idiots being rescued from underwater houses built in areas that close to the action, its become difficult to watch. I simply do not feel sorry for them. If you want to stay, stay. But if thats your choice, you should be on your own and the emergency people should be allowed to leave, and stay away until it blows over. Its not like there wasnt enough warning.

Here on the coast most fared well. Long Beach Harbor suffered damages that will take time to correct. 2 boats that didn't evac sank. Back in the hurricane holes I saw three boats washed up into the marshes and on shore. Pass Christian harbor had one sailboat deposited on the parking lot next to Shaggys. And the sailboat that had been grounded west of Pass Harbor for the past 6 months was washed up and flipped over on sidewalk by hwy 90--a pile of broken fiberglass now. Here are some photos of Jonny Quest safe in a hidden canal, one unfortunate LBH resident's boat, and Pier 5 damage at LBH. Have to decide where to relocate if LBH can't accommodate everyone now.

Next time y'all put your boats in a canal like the first pic, you might want to put them bow to stern so the masts are less likely to foul should the wind come down the canal from either direction. Not all boats heel similarly.

Someone please post their plans for returning to port from discovery bay canals tomorrow, Sunday. Are the Bayou portage and CSX railroad bridges operational?
