I'm about to change the impeller and I noticed some impellers have a plastic insert and some have a brass insert, of course the one's with the brass insert are three times as costly, are they worth it ?

Are these engine raw water pump impellers or what? I've never seen an engine impeller with a plastic hub.

It's for the engine. WM has them in their catalog, the plastic are 30.00 and the brass are 80.00.

Well you got my curiosity. I looked in the 2011 WM catalog (later I have) and I did see impellers with plastic hubs. But I didn't see where there was a choice between the two materials for the same impeller size. It seemed like some styles are plastic and some are brass. Since the listing I saw was for Jabsco impellers, I presume that the plastic is not a cheapo substitute, but is the original design.

Am I correct?

If you look at the impeller profile page, the"G " style fits my boat.
I see three "G" impellers. Two of them are plastic and are the same size but different material. The other is brass but is a different size and type of drive.

Is your original impeller plastic?

First off $80.00 way too high and try calling Torresen marine for all your parts, pretty sure they in your area to sell to and just picked 2 impellers and O rings for $41.00 at my Yanmar supplier here in Florida and they need to be brass.
