I have a C30 and the ignition switch is causing intermittent power to the control panel instruments and once the engine failed to start when I had the key turned and pushed the starter button. Do I need to change it and, if so, where can I find the switch?

ig switch

Chris; any ignition switch will work. buy one at the local marine supply. automotive ones will work, but they don't stand up to the corrosion as well.

wiring upgrade?

Chris have you done a wiring upgrade on your Catalina? (I assume its a Catalina) I had an "ignition switch problem" that was really fried old wiring between the engine and the starter panel. Also check your groud from engine to ground bus or battery - if it's not got good contacts you will have problems with starting. To check if it is the ignition switch or the starter button use a small jumper wire with alligator clips to bypass the switch then the starter button - see if you still have a problem. I have found Calders maintenance book a great help for electrical stuff. Good luck
