It is something designed to be removed after use. No electrical connections.
I’d say some where in the boat you’ll find a compass wanting to be fitted into the outside round fitting.

I was going to guess it's for a Velocitek Speedpuck... but it looks like they emboss "Velocitek" on their mounts... unless maybe early production they didn't.

Agreed. But whatever hardware went there is long gone. Previous owners had no idea what it was.
Likely not a compass since it has a binnacle.

Its a "Thingy" missing it's "Gazinta" :cowbell:

Jim...
I believe that was a Spanish brand ?

When I was a kid we had a similar product in our trailer. The chamber pot for us real young ones, was a Guzunta model. As per instructions it was stored it under the bed.
Fortunately we soon bought a 70s trailer with a marine style ShiteShowerShave setup. :dancing:

there is a Facebook group called "What is this thing on my boat?" which has dozens of weird objects that folks have identified . it's a great time waster if you really want an answer (eventually) to your question. . .

Maybe it's what's left of a compass? Looks to be the right size and location.

The boat has a binnacle compass at the wheel from factory.

Seems unlikely that one would also be on the cabin bulkhead. and I haven't seen one that is removable in that way.

That said I have seen compasses on both sides of a cockpit, so that the helmsman has a good view angle on each tack.

Looks like it was meant to have a wire feed through the middle hole... btw part # and google didn't come up with anything.

i would think wind instruments....not that I have a brand in mind, but the large tab on one side, and screw retention on the other looks robust and quick
