Wes, You cant take parts of a stranded boat
that is beached on state property. Contact the state marine patrol or CG to get salvage info. Every state is different. I know because this happened to my boat here in Florida. Some kids stole my boat, went joy riding and then left it adrift in the gulf. It was recovered by a fisherman 200 miles away and towed to his house. I had made a police report but that was only in my county. He contacted the police but no boats were reported missing in his county. Before he could take salvage rights, he was required by law to make a "reasonable attempt" to contact the owner. The kids stripped the registration numbers off, but he was able to find me by looking up the serial number at the tag office. He called me and I got my boat back. Had he not been able to contact me with in 6 months the boat would have been his.Ted
