Frank, When it's windy and it's raining and your on the trailer, in Burbank, tomorrow, you want a good seal or your new cushions will be wet. If water has a way in it will get in! Dennis W. S/V FullSailed

NOTHING THAT IS NOT PLANNED EVER HAPPENS

Gee what a response! Sorry, I thought your original post was serious, but if that is all you're planning on ever happening as far as water is concerned, just leave the boat on the trailer and take the NEW SEATS with their Covers into the house. I hope the roof doesn't leak. As for me, even inland, I occassionally see water come washing across the deck with possible entry to the v berth. I AM GOING TO KEEP MINE DRY! Do as you see fit; maybe Elmer's glue and some yarn?

Larry my original post is serious. Why all the hostility?

I'm pretty much a fair weather sailor. 90% of the time I sail with the pop top up. When it gets hairy I latch it down. I have occasionally found myself with water washing over the bow and so far the V berth has remained dry. Generally I wash the boat after a weekend of sailing and go home leaving the boat in mast up storage never looking inside. Recently we had winds after the fires and the boat was a mess, so I washed it before going out. That's when I found the cushions wet. I just got a high pressure washer and before I use it on the deck I want to make sure the lid is sealed. I spent a lot of time making my cushions and I would like to keep them nice at least for a few seasons more not to mention preventing mold and mildew. Frank

CAGUY, google McMaster -Carr and

enter gaskets in the product search. I am sure that you can find what you need there.

Don't expect

weatherstrips to seal against a pressure washer, I have to explain to a customer every once in a while that if they spray directly at a car door seal with a garden hose it will leak and there is nothing I can do about it. Black weatherstrip adhesive is available and doesn't look as bad as the yellow stuff, anything less will peel off, use masking tape and clean any spots immediately with adhesive remover, get some modeling clay and see how wide the gap you are trying to seal is, this will also give you an idea as to what shape to get. You going out this weekend? only gale warnings ;D Tim
