I Need a Halyard Exit Plate

The halyard exit plates on my 94 H26 are plastic. There are two of these plates -- one for the main halyard and one for the jib. My main halyard exit plate broke off, so I decided to replace both plates. I found an SS exit plate in the West Marine catalog and ordered two of them but they are way too big. I would have to really widen the slot in the mast for them to fit; so much so I'm afraid it would significantly weaken the mast. Any ideas where I can get a halyard exit plate to fit the existing slot in the H26 mast?Jim Schaffs/v Savannah

Jim,I had the same problem with my plastic exit plates. Ordered Schaefer SS replacements which were totally wrong. Found the right bits at www.rigrite.com

Rigrite in RI is a good source

You can contact Rigrite in RI. They are a good source for parts for the Z-Spar masts. Ihad to replace one on my H-33.5 and the had it in stock. It fit great, including the hole allignment for the pop rivits. If you don't already have one (and I didn't) you will have to buy or borrow a poprivit tool to install. You DO NOT want to fasten with screws and have the screw ends sticking thur to snag and damage halyards.Dick CareyS/V PuffinH-33.5 1990

z spar mast

You have a z spar mast. Z spar screwed up some years ago but you can get the part from USSpars. Ask for Julian and he will help you.

Thanks for the info. I haven't had a chance to measure yet but it looks like the halyard exit plate from US Spars, Inc. is exactly what I'm looking for! If that isn't it, I'll investigate a little further into rigrite.com.I do have a pop rivet gun and will use it for this replacement project. I have used SS screws in my boom to add E-Z Jacks, but I cut the screws off and rounded off the ends to make them nice and smooth -- not an easy job!Jim Schaffs/v Savannah

To make a long story short, Z spar makes good products. However, they goofed some years back and I believe there may be some creditors looking for them. They are no longer in the US.US spars is basically Z Spar product. Therefore, you will get the right part and Julian can help you.
