Use pull string doesn't have to be much tied onto old ropes. With electric tape to guide thru. And pull old ones out. Maybe use colored perminate markers to Mark strings to put correct ropes back in correct location. Then try washing them in washing machine with lots of fabric softener a little oxy clean and those old lines will shine up good as new.

He doesnt have the old lines. Washing machine works well but you need to make sure you put them in a bag or pillow case so they dont wrap around the agitator
