I think if I were carrying that much fuel or water in a dink, I'd use a flexible bladder, and I'd pump the fluid up/down, rather than try to lift it in/out. We did this, sort of, last week, with a few of those flexible, 5 gallon drinking water jugs, plus a 6 gallon water jerry can. I looked at bladders on Defender, and you can get them for fuel or water in just about any size that suits you.

Thank you to all the contributors to my original post. I wanna close this thread letting you know that we pulled the trigger on the West Marine version of the Water Tender 9.4. Off to the lake in a few minutes and put this little girl to work. First task...platform to place the new boat name on the transom of the H30.

The dinghy worked out great. With two of us in the Watertender and tied up to the transom we managed to get this graphic applied yesterday? Lovin' the little boat so far...and the mothership finally has a name! Now the Admiral wants to name the dinghy...geez, it never ends. Thanks for the nice words @jviss.

Well, it's about time. The snow is almost here! Looks good. Had I read this sooner, I would have checked it out when I was down there this evening.

I'll make that trip over to your dock one of these days (we're in 224), but boat comes out of the water tonight. We're taking it up to Penobscot Bay, Maine for a couple of weeks. Should be fun. It's been a busy sailing season so far. We just got back from a trip to Lake Champlain, as well as getting out on Cayuga whenever we can between rainstorms this year.

On the tender subject...we've tried a couple so far. First was a small inflatable that you could basically just row in circles. Then we got a porta-bote. That worked great for hauling stuff, like our fold up bikes. It was a pain to fold and drop into the water each day, but we had a system that worked pretty well. We sometimes towed it, but don't love the speed reduction it caused, so on longer sails we stored it folded on deck. Then we got a Sea Eagle inflatable 2 person kayak. We've been using that since last year and like it a lot. We tow it behind and you don't notice it's even there. Easy to get in and out of. We did have it flip while towing in high winds on Lake Champlain this year. Acted like a sea anchor until I got it flipped back over but no issues after that. If that happened to the porta-boat, it would have swamped, and we would have had some real problems. One of the coolest boats I've seen used as a tender was a Hobie inflatable kayak. The pedal system is really neat for cruising around the anchorages.

All this discussion and if you do not know how to take care of a dinghy, then, whatever type you buy will be a problem! Chief

We go up to Belfast, ME every year in September to visit a few close friends. One has a 19 WWP that I've had in the bay several times. Hope you have a good time on Penobscot. We're a bit behind the usage curve. We took only our third trip last Sunday on Cayuga. Between rain, as you well are aware of, we had numerous graduations and weddings to attend. Tough year so far. Hoping the balance of the season gets us up to 15+ trips.

How about that Hazardous Algae Bloom? Disgusting!
