Whatever, it will be full of rain and Slow moving NW, since there is a HIGH pressure over Denver that wall push back on it by Friday.
This happened as I noted last Tuesday.

But here is the bad news...

That Denver High is now over NW Arkansas and is causing Hurricane Harvey to STALL to a creep. still trying to landfall but NOT. It is all a matter of timing of the next HIGH over Colorado
Can the storm come ashore and stop being fueled buy the Heat in the Gulf waters, or is it just going to Set there and grow in strength?
________
I am NOT NOAA, but what I see is the models are showing a very WIDE circle of probability for the week end and it is getting bigger by the hour. Why? That HIGH could push it back out in Gulf or it could slide more North to NE than North West before landing. Trust me, NOAA knows and Authorities are being notified.

So be prepared for a rapid change in predicted intensity and direction.

We need that storm to move off the Gulf energy source, soon.
Jim...
PS: Since typing the above, there was a 5pm update. It appears Harvey will flow into the trough between the two Highs mentioned above, Change to NE as the Highs pass.

Latest update from Houston, rain of biblical proportions! TV news just reported latest models shows a band of 20 to 30" totals of rain predicted for the next few days between Houston and San Antonio. Hopefully it's hype for ratings. Landfall predicted as cat 3 near Rockport.

My best wishes for the safety of all the people in those flood zones. I hope it doesn't play out so bad.

Got a friend whose house and sailboat are currently looking to be under the eye of this storm when Harvey goes back to sea. Data as of 7PM CDT on 8-24. (It's a hurricane and subject to change.) (again)

Thanks, we're far enough from the predicted landfall to just get tropical storm conditions today and tomorrow. Main concern around Houston and Galveston Bay Area is flooding if the storm stalls. Or if it turns back out in the Gulf and makes a second landfall.
Harvey has already screwed up my weekend, Saturday's race has been postponed!
Hoping and praying for the best for all those in the path of the storm.

Weather man was wrong again with their 20 to 30" rainfall forecast. We only got 51.88 inches at the Cedar Bayou gauge upstream of my house.

Good riddance Harvey! Bill I hope, that you are dry and well, y'all really got hammered last night! Our home in Houston received no damage and no water inside. The good S/V Sanctuary survived what appears to have been about five days of 30kts + without a scratch and only a little water inside from the leaks I have not tracked down from the area of the fixed ports. I emerged from this round only to find something brewing off the coast of Africa. There is no trying to reason with hurricane season!

Glad you are ok Mike. Karen and I are really glad we don't live in Crosby anymore, especially with the chemical plant "about to explode".

Keep an eye on this storm system off Mexico.
So far a protective HIGH over NM and West TX should tear that Gulf potential up and clear out the rain.

The Gulf oil rigs south of Beaumont just got the "all clear" and re-man the platforms with mechanics and electrician to inspect the possible damages. They will depart by Hilo from probably Lake Charles [Sat 4am], since Port Arthur is still a ??

Houston should be clear skies for now.
