It's a fixed dock and constructed fairly recently. A wheeled crane could easily reach the boat from a nearby parking lot.

We had a visit last night from the remnants of this bitchy hurricane in upstate NY and got to see this (relatively benign yet still inconvenient) response from the local Nanticoke Creek before leaving for work today. Two feet of water in my front yard to drive through for two blocks.

@ kermit I must applaud you on the correct use of the plural y'all. Most people just don't get it right.
I don’t normally say all of y’all. I put “of” in there for emphasis. Normally the plural of y’all is just all y’all. Plural possessive is all y’all’s.

It's getting better in New Bern. Water is restored to the docks at the Grand. Power, I expect, will come back sometime next week. After that I can get busy repairing Sequoyah's damaged cutwater, put the sails back on, check everything out thoroughly, and with luck get out on the water again.

Current estimate of damage to the town is $100M and rising. It will be cleaned up and rebuilt as necessary, but you never bring it back the way it was after something like this. It can be an opportunity, though. Rebuilding gives you a chance to do it better second time around.

Made it for the first time since Florence to the marina. 8 hour drive.. saw at least a hundred utility maintenance trucks heading back west out of the coastal area. Some roads, nc 70 for one, still closed. Here are some pics I took today at the cherry point marina.

It is know as a twin keel or bilge keel. Very convenient if you have you boat in an area with large tidal change and relatively shallow water. Yo can get into those gunkholes and let the boat ride out the tide change on the mud flats.

Look like this boat broke loose from her mooring and found some nice grass to settle on.

If you zoom in on the picture you can see it's sitting on the wing keel and rudder blade in the back. Not a real wide wing so I wouldn't get too close to it in a blow but it's sitting on it non the less.
Saw a lot of twin keel boats in Ireland sitting up on them after the tide went out.

What is the paper taped to hull? I can't blow it up enough but it looks like a Rotary emblem.

Jumpin Jiminy, you are correct. Forgot had zoom powers... That boat is nestled neatly on its keel, rudder and mast in a Pine tree. Lucky dude.
