And the strippers in the clubs across the street may not be able to get in to work for a few days.

@shemandr is that what @Benny17441 was talking about when he suggested cutting some PVC pipe to slide over the pylons?
That's different. Maybe the term hurricane poles is a local thing. But if you're having dock work done you can opt for extra tall pilings for the reasons I stated. They proved their worth during Sandy.

The rudder seems to be there, just facing the edge. But that will be the least concern getting the boat out of there.

@heritage and
I am retired now but Oriental where I had a second location is under water and now with tornado warnings. Friends on the outer banks are loosing houses too.

Wow- looking at the Harbor Cam at the town dock in Oriental. Just the very tips of the pilings showing and water to the steps of "The Spot". Bet the crew isn't having coffee there this morning, sad to say. One of my favorite stops.

We were docked right there 4 months ago. Went into The Bean to buy coffee beans. Wow, that's a lot of water.

I just spoke to my dad, who has a house on the Newport River, north of Morehead City. He evacuated inland, but one neighbor stayed, and has reported that all the neighbors lost their docks. The next door neighbor, a good friend, had his pontoon boat on a lift. The boat has disappeared.

The good news is that the flooding was not as bad as it could have been right in that section of the river. The yard was covered, but not very deep, so they got maybe 5 feet of surge above the MHHW line. We will see what happens tonight at high tide.

The Cajun Navy has arrived in Carolina! Never heard of these folks, apparently there are two branches - America's Cajun Navy and United Cajun Navy.

America's Cajun Navy mobilized to New Bern and made 150 water rescues of people who decided they could ride out H.Florence. They are in there saving livestock, pets, and people. God Bless them all!

The Weather Channel is getting in on the "fake news" trend.

:laugh::laugh::laugh:

Okay so watch this again.
  1. The reporter is supposedly leaning "into" the wind to keep his balance, however the weeds in the flower pot right behind him are leaning the same way so ....why is he leaning away from the wind?
  2. The reporter is supposedly being blown so hard he is rocking back and forth to keep his balance... but during his report two joggers casually walk by while they chat to each other....:laugh::p:puke:

Just got word that our boat at cherry point is still floating. Some of the others in the marina were not so lucky. Their sinking could have been caused by stern lines tied too tightly to pilings or dock cleats causing the stern to be pulled below the water level, or cockpit sculptures clogged by debris. Just speculation, though. Should know more tomorrow.

Great news! Its always good to hear when you are still floating. Hopefully no collateral damage from other boats. Keep us posted.

New Bern Grand Marina yesterday afternoon, during the storm:
Bridge Point Marina is visible across the river, beyond the docked boats. It was wiped out, the floating docks going off their pilings. Most of the boats there are lost.

Bummers. But there is a good side. They now know that the line they used is strong and the cleats are secure. Bad news. The bulge pump needs to be larger if your going to tie the boat down.

It is hard to see boats I sold in that video at least surviving but hearing about Bridge Point Marina and others not so good. I have a lot of former customers in North and South Carolina.
Kermit just called his boat is fine along with his home
Heritage great news about your boat
