Our boat was damaged by Hurricane Ivan. Mast broken at welded joint, rudder broken, port side of boat scarred, scratched and gouged, forstay/furler/jib gone, etc.. but we were lucky our boat can be fixed. We have questions:1. where our hull is all scratched and gouged, can this be repaired in just the damaged areas like they would do to a car? or will we have to have the entire hull painted to get it looking good again? How will insurance see this?2. can one contractor take care of all problems or do we have to sub out the mast to one, sails to another, fiberglass work to another? We live 250 miles from the boat so we would like to just turn it over to someone to handle for us, also there is nowhere to stay down there after the hurricane, all rooms are taken by contractors and people whose homes were destroyed, so we can't stay there to make repairs. Has someone out there been through this before? Our insurance surveyor has done his thing but we still haven't seen the report. There is a 3-4 month waiting list to get hauled out, we were lucky to find a surviving slip to rent while we await our turn.
