I've Wartched One of Them

I've bought/watched the one about sailing on Lake Champlain. As I recall (its been awhile) it spends a lot of time on how to fly the asym spinnaker, which I liked since I plan to get one. Wouldn't consider the videos to be "must haves" but they are nice viewing during the cold winter months. Now that the boat's been put away for the season, I think I'll pull it out and watch it again. Hope they do one on Great Lakes sailing.

3 for me

I've seen three. If you want them to see the H260 itself in action, then you just need one. If you like to see different scenery then get all 5 or at least the ones where you might take your boat someday.

Set of 5...

L. Champ. video gives some advice on cruising Spinaker and Inflatable dingys. Its my favorite because some of my friends were intereviewed and helped in the production. The others, as I recall, cover only cruising the cruising area featured in the video. Fair winds, Tom

Vicarious Sailing

I own the whole set and enjoy them all. Each one features a different, and unique trailer sailor destinations mostly out west in Oregon, Montana and Idaho. There is useful information about each destination that really helps a person to make plans in advance of their trip; For example, there are interviews with local sailors (Old Salts), phone numbers to helpful marina's, and tip about areas to look out for for while sailing etc. Four of the five feature the Hunter 26, and the newest one about Lake Champlain, features the 260. Each video also offers a "sailing tip" like reefing, stepping the mast, anchoring, etc. Each one also highlights activities you can do "ashore." I am really looking forward to the next video and hope they make videos featuring Key West, The Apostle Islands, or some other more inland lake like the Ozarks... still waiting. I haven't purchased my own boat yet, but after watching the videos, I am seriously leaning toward a 26 or 260. The creators portray trailer sailing as something the whole family can enjoy, and an activitiy you don't have to be super rich. I think sailing needs this kind of information to promote itself. Maybe not "must haves" but up to now, the best resource for people like me wondering about what boat to purchace, where to go, or even if sailing is something my family would like to do. I highly recommend them, especially with the Fall colors coming so fast. Tim Mason

Winter Fix

Thanks, I think I will get a couple of them to watch when the weather gets nasty. The lake Champ one I will definetly get. The boat we are buying has a spinaker and I have never flown one before last weekend. Oh man, was that fun. Tim, I agree this is a great activity for the family. I currently sail a hobie 16 which I really enjoy but I end up singlehanding 99% of the time. We are moving up to a 260 so we can spend more time sailing together, spend weekends on it etc. We really had fun on the 260 when we went on a test sail. Its a great boat. I've researched just about every trailer sailer between 22-26 feet in the last couple years I think, and I always kept coming back to the 260.

stepping the mast

Which video would you recommend that shows how to step the mast. We haven't done this as yet, and want to learn how so we can take the boat out for the winter this year.

Stepping Mast, "How To" video

Each video features essential sailing "tips" for the H 26 or the H 260, the video featuring "stepping the mast" would be the video titled, "Lake Coeur d'Alene." The video featuring Detroit Lake, Oregon offers hints on anchoring. I just watched this video, for the hundredth time, and I think It is worth checking out. Enjoy! Tim
