Is the 466 a lead keel or an iron keel? If its a lead keel would it be possible to heat it carefully and straighten the wings out? Just asking?

Lead. Not sure. Sounds plausible

The 466 deep fin is 9500. The shoal draft is 9680. 6’6” versus 5’6”. I just know mine is a bit tender and shallower lighter will not improve things.
If you are correct, then Sailboatdata.com has it backwards. It didn't make sense to me for the shoal draft to have less ballast than the fin keel, usually it is the other way around.

Ballast is only part of the stability equation, keel depth, hull form, and weight aloft are also part of the equation. With hull form probably the most significant for initial stability.

Lead is reasonably maleable. If you cast it or can cut and attach a bulb to a keel like Mars Metal does for $$$$ its reasonable you should be able to reform an existing keel. The wings bent up and didn't fracture in the grounding, Just "unground" it so to speak. Maybe its time to think out of hte box. If the OP is convinced he wants to buy a $$$$ totaled boat (not my preference by the way for the reasons Capta mentioned) then its worth a shot as far as I'm concerned. It won't reduce the value any, its already totaled. What does he have to lose?

By the way, how are you doing classmate?
